About the Vineyard

The vineyard was planted to multi-clonal varieties of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1995, with the first few years’ production sold to premium wine producers. Plantings of selected clones of Shiraz and Merlot have since been added.
We believe that to make a great wine, you need premium quality fruit. The 4.5 ha vineyard is as carefully tended as a kitchen garden. The vines are nurtured on an almost individual basis and the reward is premium fruit bursting with flavour.
Our understanding of the terroir and the viticultural requirements of our varieties is the key to the high quality of our fruit.

About the Wines

The wines are created by careful and gentle handling, from the selection and picking of the fruit through to the bottling and cellaring of the final product. Using age old winemaking methods along with patience and attention to detail we are able to produce wines we are proud to offer you
The first Joshua’s Fault Cabernet was laid down in 2001 and was rewarded a Bronze Medal at its first outing to the Canberra Region Wine Show.
Our wines have been very well received by the trade, with a focus on fine dining venues. Continued consumer preference for our wines has meant we have been able to retain our place on many fine dining restaurant wine lists from vintage to vintage.
Our single vineyard wines are hand-made in small batches with great attention to detail, using only the very best French oak. Production is limited with the wines selling out every year.

About the Winemaker

Chris Joshua started his career in the wine business in the early eighties working vintages with several of the original Canberra Region wineries. In 1991 Chris graduated from Charles Sturt University with an Associate Diploma in Grape and Wine Production.
There then followed a stint in premium and ultra-fine wine sales and distribution which took him to every major wine region in Australia, as well as Italy and France. Tasting the great wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux, and observing their climate and viticultural practices, Chris knew that the varieties of these regions would translate perfectly to the Gundaroo site.

We hope you enjoy Joshua’s Fault hand crafted wines.
