Vintage Report 2014

The 2014 vintage was challenging to say the least. Widespread frosts in October decimated many vineyards in South East Australia. Fortunately for us the topography of The Joshua’s Fault vineyard allows for significant cool air drainage on frosty mornings. This, along with the vineyard’s open aspect which captures the early morning sun meant that frost damage was limited.
There followed an extended heatwave over the ripening period which gave way to relatively cooler temperatures when the fruit was well advanced.
Vintage was a bit of a juggling act with extended periods of rain – quite unusual for a Canberra District Autumn. The combination of a few dry days and a meticulous picking crew saw us able to deliver some lovely parcels of fruit into the winery.
